Wisconsin Beer Brats
Ingredients
- 1 package of Johnsonville Brats (5 sausages)
- 1 red onion, chopped
- 2 12oz cans of the cheapest beer you can find, or whatever you've got
Preparation
Put sausages, onion and beer in a 3 quart pot. Boil for 20 minutes. Open better beer than what you're cooking with. Drink. While the brats are boiling, start a full chimney of charcoal. After the brats have boiled for 20 minutes, remove from pot. You can boil brats in advance and store them in your refrigerator for 2-3 days. When coals are ready, spread over the bottom of the grill. Put brats on grill rack directly over coals. Close lid. Go in the house for another beer. When you get back (about two minutes), open lid and turn sausages over. Close lid. Repeat the lid opening and turning until the brats are browned. Don't burn them. Remove from grill and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving. The rest is up to you.
